Ever wonder about Lay School?

About two years ago, Pastor Nate came up to me and said, “You know, I think you should go to Lay School”. It was completely out of the blue, so I was a little taken back and to be honest, a little freaked out! Me, in Lay School? I was afraid that I didn’t know enough scripture to take part in the classes, that I would be in way over my head.

However, I agreed to think about it. After several weeks of thought and prayers, I realized I was actually feeling pulled to do this. A Holy Spirit “nudge” if you will. So with some nervousness, I began my Lay School journey.

And you know what, I’m so glad I chose to listen to that “nudge”. The students came in with all different amounts of knowledge and religious backgrounds. I’ve learned so much about what’s in the bible, history of Christianity, our Lutheran faith and why we do what we do, and especially my own faith, spirituality, and prayer. A great education teaches not only the facts, but also HOW to learn. Our understanding of the bible and our inner faith life is always changing and Lay School has done a wonderful job in teaching us how to continue learning and evolving what we know and believe.

Lay School classes meet once a month and for the months of March and April, they are allowin

g anyone with an interest in what Lay School is about to sit in on the classes to get a taste of what they are missing! Each student was given the information on how to sign our guests up.

So, consider this my invitation to you all to join us as we continue our education. We meet in the Fellowship Hall here at Christ the King and the dates are:

· Friday, March 17th (6:00 to 10pm)

· Saturday, March 18th (9:00 am to 12:10pm)

· Friday, April 14th (6:00 to 10:00pm)

· Saturday, April 15th (9:00am to 12:10pm)

Please call me at the church office (920-788-6492) and let me know your name and which date(s) you are interested in attending and I am more than happy to get you signed up. I look forward to having you join me, the other Lay School students, and others that are curious just like you!

God’s Peace,

Tina Kopiske, Community Life Coordinator
