craft fair history

It started as a youth group fundraiser that the youth put on for several years. When the group no longer sponsored the sale, many of the vendors were wishing to continue so some adults took over.

The Craft Fair was intended to be a way of showing the congregation what talents the members have and let people know who to go to if you need help with a craft or would like to learn a new skill. Another way to connect.

Before Covid, we had over 30 vendors. Since then, our numbers have dropped but we are growing again and would like even more participants. We have also opened our vendors to non-members along with church members as a way to reach out to the community on another level. We have included any and all types of crafts over the years. The only vendors we do not include are professional products i.e. Avon, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, etc.

Several years ago, we included a brat fry to encourage the vendors and shoppers to increase their engagement of the Craft Fair. Profit from the brat fry is donated to a special need of the church. Brats have been cooked and sold by the men's Bible study, the youth and interested adults at different times over the years.

A couple of years we had Kimberly High School students sell items they made as a fundraiser for another student with a special need. As a way of making the Craft Fair intergenerational we usually do not charge minors an entry fee.

Christ the King has had a Craft Fair for over 16 years. The only one we missed was the first year of Covid. We have had a wide variety of items for sale and are always looking for new ideas. Something for everyone!
