King's Quilters

After the horrifying 9/11 attacks, two friends wanted to make a difference for others.  They decided to make lap quilts and donate them to cancer patients at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Appleton Medical Center.  It’s now 25 years later and this ministry continues.  These care and comfort quilts are donated to local hospitals, dialysis centers and hospice for patients going through cancer treatments, kidney dialysis and end of life care.

We have a group of people who meet monthly (2nd Wednesday 1:00-4:00 p.m. September through May) at Christ the King Church to assemble the quilts.  The volunteers bring fabric scissors and some bring sewing machines.  While we meet, the quilts are prayed over (prayers to offer care and comfort for those patients receiving these quilts). We share fellowship, laughter and a snack.

This ministry is open to all who would like to have fun and make a difference.  No experience is required.  The next time we meet is Wednesday, October 14.  We welcome new members anytime.

Kings Quilters gladly accepts donations of money, cotton fabric and gently used sheets.  You can also apply for the Thrivent $250 action grant and donate the monies to Kings Quilters.   By doing this, Kings Quilters can use the grant money to purchase batting.
