We are planning a work day for building maintenance, repair and upkeep for Saturday April 26th from 8 am until noon. Thrivent Action Dollars were applied for and received by a church member and those dollars are being used to provide a cold breakfast from 7:30 until 8 and a lunch from noon until 12:30 along with items for 10 am break.
There are 37 items on the project list for that day so far. Some of them, to my knowledge, have never been done and in reality probably won't get done on the 26th but they are tasks for us to complete soon if we are serious about taking care of the facility we have been blessed with and are so fortunate to have. The list is an effort to begin to be serious about consistent maintenance and identify methods to accomplish those tasks.
Some of the tasks on the list have already been handed off to people that will take care of them at a time other than the work day but there are a couple of major projects (garage shelving construction, garage cleaning, landscape touchup, work around the air handlers) that will take most or all of the morning. In addition, there are a bunch of smaller projects around the building that will require willing bodies to complete. If you are interested in helping and available on the 26th, there is a signup sheet on the welcome desk or you can let Tina know and she will get you on the list. We look for will more than skill so we will work you if you show up. One of the tasks will be spring raking of the front lawn so bring a rake if nothing else since that will absorb a lot of people.
Days like this are important for the work accomplished but the subtle benefits are perhaps more telling. We get to meet other people we may not otherwise meet. We build ownership of the building and ministry it represents, we build community, we build relationship, we build skills, we build understanding but most of all we are practicing stewardship of our selves, our time and our church building and family by helping out. These benefits will bear fruit for a long time.
Please pray for favorable weather for our workday and for a willingness to help.

We look forward to seeing you there
