Thank you for making my last Sunday as Vicar Sommer remarkable, memorable, and special. Thank you for all of the hugs, kind words, cards with letters of encouragement, and so many of you welcoming my mom, Janet, to the service. She said, “I wish I would have known that “church” could be this loving- I would have come back years ago!” My mom was part of the same denomination as I was her entire life and you all made her return very special. I also want to say thank you for living into the RIC commitment you all made this past year. We had a few guests who were invited from Fox Valley Pride a few weeks ago and they felt loved, affirmed, welcomed, and comfortable. Thank you for living into love as Christ has called you to do by welcoming all, loving all, and showing others what the love of Christ truly looks like! I look forward to a little break as I resume care for my mom at home and work on my Approval Essay. I am entering the last step of candidacy in December and I know that I am on the right path and call by how Christ the King embraced me the last year. I will still be around, working with our youth, and I look forward to supply preaching a few Sundays in the future and worshiping with you all again.
Finally, thank you for embracing my son, Logan, this past year. He is learning the “ropes” of being a Pastor’s Kid and he has really loved getting involved, helping out where he can, and being a part of the positive environment that Christ the King has given. I don’t know where my future call will be, but I hope that my first call is as loving and accepting as Christ the King was to me as an intern. My time at Christ the King will forever be in my heart and I thank you all for supporting me in my journey for the last year, and beyond. I will let you all know when I am approved and give you all an update on when I graduate if you would like to join in the celebrations. Please keep my family and I in your prayers as I finish out my last year of Seminary and I will see you through the year.
Remember that God loves you, and so do I.
Peace and Blessings, Sommer Loar
