I have Questions

So I’m prepping a sermon for Sunday based on Luke 10:1-20 where Jesus sends 72 Disciples ahead of him to heal the sick & tell of his coming.

And I have Questions…

• Did he send 70 or 72?

• Why does Matthew 10 tell a similar story with the 12 disciples?

• Is this where political candidates learned about an “Advance Team”?

• Was there a plan of who would go to what town? I can’t even find 36 towns between Galilee & Jerusalem!!

• Did he pair them up by Myers Briggs type… you know, an Extravert with an Introvert?

• Who wants to go out like lambs among wolves? Sounds Dangerous!!

• Does this mean my packing list is no good?

• Why shouldn’t I greet anyone on the road? That seems Un-Christian-like??

• How will I know if the Peace returns to me if the Man of the house doesn’t accept it?

• Is this where Mom’s “Finish everything on your plate before you can leave the table” started?

• Do we want Christians to be known as free-loaders?

• Wouldn’t they honor and influence more people by moving around houses?

• Why were they sent to heal & tell about Jesus’ coming & not teach or preach?

• If this was 2000 years ago, how could they say the Kingdom of GOD is near?

• If they weren’t welcome, why didn’t they try to convert or pray for them?

• Wouldn’t this get more for the harvest?

• Are some of us a lost cause?

• Why wipe the dust from their sandals – Isn’t that a waste of time & energy?

• Which cities today would be compared with Sodom, Korazin, Bethsida & Capernam today?

• If they were only supposed to heal the sick & tell Jesus was coming, why were they driving out demons?

That seems beyond the job description!!

• Don’t I want to live in heaven, not just have my name written in heaven?

SO… I have Questions… this week I will be discerning to unravel some of the mysteries I found in this Bible story. Come join us on Sunday to learn what I find!!
