Chapel on the Lakes
Chapel on the Lakes

“No synonym for God is so perfect as Beauty. Whether as seen carving the lines of the mountains with glaciers, or gathering matter into stars, or planning the movements of water, or gardening – still all is Beauty.” John Muir

John Muir, born in Dunbar, Scotland, moved to rural Montello, Wisconsin to a farm home named Fountain Lake Farm. It is a historic landmark for the pioneering conservationist from 1849-56, 60-62. He had a strict religious upbringing. His father believed that anything that distracted from Bible studies was frivolous and punishable. By age 11, he learned to recite by heart all of the New Testament and most of the Old Testament. He attended UW-Madison, and there he learned enough geology and botany that sent him into the woods and meadows in wild enthusiasm. He didn’t graduate with a degree, but thanks to Muir who bathed in the beauty of nature, we have many places that we can enjoy in our own state of WI and throughout the US.

One such area of East Central Wisconsin, are the 22, pristine, Chain O’Lakes of Waupaca. If you enjoy relaxing on the water, you will enjoy this 1-hour cruise and worship service on the scenic, crystal clear, waters. Each summer, Trinity Lutheran Church sponsors the Chapel on the Lakes from mid-June through mid-August. Pastor Nate will lead worship on July 23, on the unique, double decker, paddle wheel, boat the leaves from Clearwater Harbor, (N2757 Cty Hwy QQ, Waupaca). There is limited space on the boat. We have 35 spots reserved, please sign up by calling or stopping by the church office. The cruise leaves promptly at 6:00pm. If you are interested in having a scrumptious dinner beforehand, will plan to meet at the Harbor at 4:30pm, in the Boathouse (adjacent and to the right of the Harbor, on the water). We will order off the menu. There are restrooms at the Harbor and on the boat. The boat will go out rain or shine unless conditions do not allow. A free-will offering will be taken during the service to help defray the cost of this ministry on the water.

Let us bring God’s love to life in our worship and time in nature!

Christ’s Blessings & Peace,

Pastor Nate
