My Farewell and Thank You

"I thank my God every time I remember you." (Philippians 1:3).After 6 wonderful years of ministry together at Christ the King, I am writing to share that I will be retiring starting in June.
I joined the team during a very difficult and uncertain season—both here and in the world around us. When Pastor Dara posted, “I’m looking for a graphic designer,” I remember thinking, Well, I’m a graphic designer. So I replied, “What do you need help with?” What I didn’t realize at the time was that it was actually a job opportunity. With a little hesitation, I accepted the position, and this job became the answer to fulfilling my dream as a graphic designer.
Over the years, my initial role has evolved, but the heart of what I do has remained the same: creating worship experiences that are engaging and visually meaningful. I also help keep our church informed and connected through newsletters, social media, and other communications that share everything happening within our church community.
This church is not just a place of work for me but also a home. Roger and I joined CtK in 1989. We lived in Sherwood and wanted to find a church family. In 1991 our son was born and baptized here, followed by our daughter in 1994. Both attended Chris Ed through Confirmation. I have served in many ways including teaching 1 st Communion classes, and VBS. We also participated in the Hunger Walk, helping with dinners at Pillars, Feed America, and Bike to the Beat.
While I am sad to be retiring from this role, I am excited to see how God will bring a new season of growth here. I have no doubt that the best is yet to come. Roger and I intend to stay members of CtK and continue to be active partners on a couple of teams servicing our church.
Thank you for trusting in me all these years. May the Lord bless you and keep you. — Sue Wendler
