On October 15th at Christ the King Lutheran Church we are gathering together to hear a presentation about navigating technology with our teens.
We will explore the “new” culture where we are tied to technology more than ever. Now we also have to explore the benefits and dangers of AI and the impact it has on our health and future.
We will explore the benefits of social media and also the dangers of being “addicted” to social media and how it can damage our mental health.
Some of the questions we might be thinking about is how do we as parents and grandparents unplug from social media ourselves so we model good social media behavior to our children and grandchildren?
How much time are kids spending on social media in addition to their school work and social time?
How much time is too much time?
Do teens today have face to face social time or are they becoming more isolated?
Is this isolation causing them harm?
Are they able to have social interaction and learn communication skills while using social media?
Is social media harming or helping their social skills?
When should screen time end so teens can get a good night sleep?
What about adults?
Is getting fresh air and exercise unplugged a priority?
Are kids spending too much time in their bedrooms?
What about family time?
Dinner time?
Are there enough unplugged hours in a day?
Can we as a society live in harmony with social media and healthy social time?
Looking forward to learning more. See you on Wednesday, October 15th when answers to some of these questions come to light.
