The Call Process Is Underway at Christ the King

At Christ the King ELCA Church, an important and hope-filled season has begun. We are excited to share that our Ministry Site Profile (MSP) has officially been posted, marking a significant step forward in our search for a new pastor. This moment reflects months of thoughtful preparation—prayerfully discerning who we are as a congregation, how God is calling us forward, and what gifts we seek in our next pastoral leader.

Partnering with the Synod

Our Call Committee has begun its work by meeting with the synod to review the call process and outline the next steps. This partnership ensures that we are grounded in the wider church, guided by experience, and aligned with best practices throughout the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

These early conversations help clarify:

• The stages of the call process

• How candidates will be identified and reviewed

• What faithful discernment looks like in this season

This foundation allows the committee to move forward with confidence, clarity, and trust in the Spirit’s leading.

Preparing with Purpose: Mock Interviews

One of the first key actions of the Call Committee has been preparing for candidate conversations through mock interviews. This step is more than practice—it’s a way to thoughtfully shape how we listen, ask questions, and discern.

Through these mock interviews, the committee is:

• Refining meaningful and consistent questions

• Ensuring alignment with our mission and values

• Practicing active listening and thoughtful follow-up

• Building confidence as a team

This intentional preparation helps ensure that when candidates are interviewed, the focus remains on discovering the right pastoral match for our congregation—not just in skills, but in shared vision and faith.

Looking Ahead with Hope As we move forward, we do so with trust—trust in the process, trust in one another, and most importantly, trust in God’s guidance. The posting of the MSP and the early work of the Call Committee are just the beginning of what we believe will be a Spirit-led journey. We invite the congregation to stay engaged through prayer, encouragement, and openness to where God is leading us next.
