CARETAKER or SOMETHING ELSE!

By now you have heard that I have been called to be your Interim Pastor here at Christ the King Lutheran Church. I have served many Congregations in the East Central Synod of Wisconsin. First as the Senior Pastor of Our Saviours Lutheran in Appleton, a congregation I served for 34 years. After retirement I have enjoyed 6 different Intentional Interim assignments. My time with you will be to provide pastoral support in all aspects of ministry. This support will involve staff guidance, worship, pastoral care as well as significant life events such as Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals. It will be my pleasure to serve you as

your Interim Pastor. I titled this blog post- “Caretaker or Something Else”. Certainly there are aspects of my role as a caretaker-meetings, worship, Bible Studies, staff support, church council guidance.

But, my preference as an Interim Pastor most often falls in the “Something Else” category. Rather than just keeping the status quo I am more programmed to help increase growth.

Growth in Worship Attendance- you will play a major role in making this happen.

Growth in Volunteerism- within the walls of Christ the King and outside the walls of out church. Is that possible? Yes it is. Growth in our financial giving. I remember preaching a sermon I titled “I never met a selfish “happy” person.

Growth in members at Christ the King. You will play a huge role in this growth category- inviting friends, contacting former members, and providing your wonderful welcoming attitude. I will be scheduling at least one New Partner Sunday in our first few months.

So, join with me in our ministry together. With God’s help we can do amazing things and help this Interim Ministry be “Something Else”.
