Giving tree ... update

We recently ran the Giving Tree blog, but with some current local situations we changed our program. You may have read or heard about the Giving Tree that we will have on display soon in the Gathering Area, with plans to be decorated with your purchased gift cards. The youth will also be adding hats and gloves. However, we are making the Giving Tree even bigger with more community outreach!
With the Government Shutdown continuing and Snap Benefits ending November 1st, there
is an even greater need for some families and individuals to purchase just the basics to meet their needs. Gift cards
from Walmart, Aldi, Pic“N”Save and Kwik Trip would be helpful and useful for making ends meet for some folks.
There is also the Bakhtyari family who we are currently assisting with grocery and gas cards. With these needs in consideration, we will have the tree set up in early November. We will have gift card envelopes available where you can fill out which place the card is from and the amount on one side and on the other side is a place to designate where you would like the card to go, either SNAP, the Bakhtyari family, or you may also leave it blank, trusting it will reach the hands of the person(s) who need it. Samples will be available for you to see by the tree.
This is a life giving tree. In the space where we realize God has met our needs, generosity kicks in and we may be able to purchase one or several cards to help meet someone else's needs and hang the cards from the branches on the tree.
For those in need you may take a gift card from the tree for yourself or for someone else you may know who would appreciate a gift to extend their budget for the month. No need to ask, please receive the gift.
The Giving Tree is inspired by what we as Christians celebrate as Christmas, but its presence does not need to begin or end on a certain day. This is our hope for our community here at Christ the King: that we gather together making sure each other's physical and spiritual needs are met, sharing in the body of Christ and rejoicing in the birth of the Christ Child.
Grace upon Grace, Your Generosity Team
