In the Book “Embracing Stewardship” the concept of love: down, in, and out is explained in this way: “The first primary movement is down; we observe and experience the multiplicity of ways that God has, is, and will continue to come down to us in love. Next we look in to see the many resources God has entrusted to our care. Lastly we look out to see the way God may be calling us to use theses resources to love God and our neighbor. Together these three movements make the sign of the cross. As we live as stewards and disciples of Christ, experience these movements make the sign of the cross, As we live as stewards and disciples of Christ, experiencing these movements, we make the sign of the cross with our lives.”

I had to share this whole quote because it is so powerful to think of my life as a cross. In 1Peter 4:10 we read “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God serve one another with whatever gift each of us has received”

God has given me the love of music. I’ve been singing in the choir for as long as I can remember. I also remember the day at First English Lutheran Church, Wausau, Wisconsin when it dawned on me that volunteering does not have to be a sacrifice, it can be fun!! I think our Knit Witts, choir, and our Gardening Angels are all examples of this. Yes, we may sacrifice our time but we love what we do.

In “Embracing Stewardship” there was also a story about an elderly woman who sat in her window every day when she waved and smiled at the children going home from school. To many students this was the favorite part of their day.

Love: Down, In, and Out equal sharing our time and talents that we have been blessed with = FUN!
