I finished the 2 year Lay School program last year in May. Lay School was and is such an exciting and challenging part of my life. I have always been called to ministry in some form and I have volunteered and worked in many areas of the church. I even started classes in 2004 but at that time, my health had other ideas.

Fast forward, 2 years ago, Pastor Nate had told me about the program and thought that it might be something I would enjoy. I researched and prayed about it. I made the decision, with the support of my family and friends, that I would like to give it a try.

The 2 years were hard, I’m not going to try and sugar coat this. My health fought me every step of the way. I am very lucky that I had the support of my classmates, Pastors, mentor, family and friends. I know ultimately, I could not have done this without God!

So, why Lay School?

Do you have questions? Do you want to learn more? Do you want to grow in your faith and be encouraged by people who will become lifelong friends? Do you want to discover more about yourself?

If you answer YES to any of these, I highly encourage you to sign up for the 2 year program, or even take one class to see how you like it and how God will use it in your life. CtK is very lucky to have several people who have either completed the program, are a part of the program now and others who will be continuing on. I encourage you to pray about it, talk with people you trust and see where it leads you.

I know we all are busy and have challenges, but God will make a way! I truly thought I would take a year off and just breathe, but again, God had different plans. I ended up taking 2 classes on Saturday mornings that I know were meant to be part of my journey. So here I am, another year in and I am so thankful I said YES!

If you any questions about Lay School, please feel free to reach out to me or contact the church office. There are currently at least 13 of us that have finished the program or are still in the program. I know any of us would love to share.
