Sleep in Heavenly Peace

We haven't talked about it much, but did you YOU know that our Lenten offering collected during Wednesday worship services went to fund a bed for a child to sleep on?

This year our church council voted for all Wednesday offerings to go to this year's East Central Synod of Wisconsin Synod Assembly service project. For that project we partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Oshkosh Chapter. Sleep in Heavenly Peace's vision is that No kid sleeps on the floor in our town®.

As a synod we made a goal of building 20 beds at $250 each, however with the collective response from congregations across the synod, we were able to build 50 beds + purchase bedding for all chapters of SHP in our synod! Christ the King funded 1 bed, and all additional funds are going toward bedding -- for a total of $765!

Here's the total breakdown of what the East Central Synod of Wisconsin congregations raised...THIS is what is to be church together!

50 Beds Sponsored = $12,500 in commitments for beds, with $4,921.28 raised for more beds and bedding.

For your generosity, thank you

Volunteers gathered this past Saturday to actually build these beds -- you can check out a video of that below.

Synod assembly is coming THIS Friday to Saturday. Basically, synod assembly is like the annual meeting of the synod, but with the extra bonus of a service project and some awesome keynote presentations and workshops. You can check out the livestream of synod assembly on the East Central Synod of Wisconsin's Facebook Page or website on Friday from 4-9pm, and Saturday, 8am-5pm.
