Thanksgiving is a day filled with a myriad of traditions.
Many years, we had a tradition of attending the Macys Day parade in the big Apple.
Now, we welcome home many grandchildren who arrive from college campuses. You
no doubt have your own traditions. Some might involve travel to loved ones or receiving loved ones in your home. You might have the tradition of watching football for hours- one game this year involves the Pack. Certainly food will play a role in the tradition. Turkey, side dishes, types of pies for dessert. I am told that Butterball Turkey will still have a hot line for any possible problems.
Yes, Traditions abound. I would like to suggest a tradition that would be most beneficial for you and your family. That tradition would be to attend Christ The King at the Thanksgiving Eve worship at 6:30 PM. Why? I’m glad you asked.
We will offer special prayers for giving thanks. We all have much to be thankful for. You will hear a sermon that will focus on giving thanks and how Jesus multiplies our gifts.
We will commune together. When you gather at the table you will be reminded that Christ is always with you. And lastly you will be able to give thanks for all your sisters and brothers who are members of Christ The King. And here is an additional one from me. I have many thanks for all of you who have made being your Interim Pastor thing a joy for me. You have welcomed me and supported me and for that I am most thankful. That support has filled
my heart.
So, Happy Thanksgiving. See you at Church.
Pr Dennis Ellisen.
